Turkish recycled board producer Kartonsan resumes production on newly-rebuilt WLC BM 2

BRUSSELS, Oct 16, 2014 (RISI) - Turkish recycled board producer Kartonsan has restarted production on its white-lined chipboard (WLC) BM 2 at its Izmit plant.

The mill halted production on its BM 2 in June and July in order to raise the line's WLC production from 100,000 tonnes/yr to 160,000 tonnes/yr, according to a spokesperson from the company. The restart was delayed until mid-September due to the large scope of the rebuild.

The spokesperson said that the machine is currently running at 100,000 tonnes/yr but that it should gradually reach its full capacity over the course of the coming weeks.

During the summer, the mill also had to stop production on its BM 1 due to shared production and support lines, like waste water treatment, steam and electricity. BM 1 restarted as expected at the beginning of August.
