January 05, 2015 - 18:45

SHANGHAI, Dec 30, 2014 (RISI) - Fujian Liansheng Paper has restarted two cartonboard PMs with a combined capacity of around 900,000 tonnes/yr at its Longhai board mill in Zhangzhou city, Fujiian province, China, after a large fire.

They had been offline after the blaze broke out December 23 in a warehouse storing testliner and recycled fluting produced on other BMs.

Of the two restarted machines, one can produce 300,000 tonnes/yr of grayboard, and the other a 600,000 tonnes/yr of grayback coated duplex board.

Two recycled containerboard machines at the site, PMs 5 and 6, are still offline. They have a combined capacity of 650,000 tonnes/yr.

It is unknown when they will resume production, although the machines are intact.

No casualties were reported.
