North American lumber and wood products freight for the week ending July 2 was 8.2% higher to 5,086 carloads and year-to-date was up 6.7% to 136,314 carloads.Read more
"We had one heck of a month," port director Paul Trichel said at the Greater Ouachita Port Commission's meeting Wednesday. "We moved out 640 loads (by rail), when normally we would move 300 to 400."
The port's dominant customer is Graphic Packaging, which ships paper from the port to its customers in Japan.Read more
