NORFOLK, VA, May 22, 2012 (Virginian-Pilot) -Fibrek Inc., a Montreal-based company, plans to export nearly 7,200 tons of wood pulp from West Virginia through the port of Hampton Roads next month, a top port executive said Monday.

"This is a trial shipment," said Joe Dorto, president and CEO of Virginia International Terminals Inc., which operates the Virginia Port Authority's terminals, adding that the deal could lead to quarterly shipments.

The wood pulp will be shipped as "break-bulk" cargo - noncontainerized goods packed in or on crates, barrels, pallets or, in this case, six-bale units.
