Weekly North American paper rail freight off 6.7%

SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 26, 2010 (RISI) -North American pulp and paper rail freight for the latest week ending Feb. 20 was down 6.7% from a year earlier at 8,954 carloads, the Assn of American Railroads reported.

Lumber and wood products freight at 4,584 carloads in the week was 7.7% higher and primary forest products at 3,125 carloads was up 7.5%.

Through seven weeks of 2010, North American pulp and paper freight at 62,207 carloads was 7.4% lower than in 2009, lumber and wood products were 4.7% higher, and primary forest products was up 0.6%.
