OAKLAND, CA, April 6, 2015 (RISI) -North American forest products railroad freight was up 1.5% in the latest week ending March 28, 2015, to 28,030 carloads, the Assn of American Railroads reported. Volume through 12 weeks of 2015 at 224,853 carloads was 4% higher from a year ago.
In the week, US forest products rail freight was up 2.3%, Canada was 19.9% higher, and Mexico was 56.2% lower. Year-to-date US traffic was off 0.3%, Canada was up 11.2%, and Mexico was down 35.6%.
Total North American carload volume in the week was down 3.9% and year-to-date was 1.6% higher.
