North America forest products rail freight drops 6.4% in latest week

North American forest products rail freight in the latest week ending Apr. 5 was down 6.4% from a year ago at 18,150 carloads, according to the Assn of American Railroads. Volume through 15 weeks of 2014 at 250,095 carloads was 4.4% lower than in 2013. Year-to-date forest products volume in the US was off 0.5%, Canada is 10.1% lower and Mexico is up 5.2%, AAR showed.
