MOBILE, AL, Aug. 6, 2010 (Local News) -Moving forest products would be the primary task for a new railroad line linking Waynesboro to Lucedale, according to a market study conducted by the Rail Authority of East Mississippi.

The railroad authority was formed in September 2009 and proposed about 50 miles of new line to link east Mississippi to the ports at Pascagoula and Mobile.

Geoffrey Clark, executive director of the authority, said the market study was encouraging. "We just can't build and hope somebody comes to use it," he said.
