OAKLAND, CA, July 11, 2014 (RISI) -North American forest products rail freight was up 3.3% in the latest week ending July 5 to 17,908 carloads, the Assn of American Railroads reported. Volume through 27 weeks of 2014 at 498,698 carloads was 0.9% below the same period in 2013.
US forest products rail carloads were 5.5% higher in the week and up 2.4% year-to-date. Canada was down 0.1% and 5.6% and Mexico was higher by 39.5% and 0.2% respectively.
Total North American carloads in the week were up 9.5% and year-to-date were 2.7% higher, AAR showed.
