North American forest products rail freight up 6.7% in latest week ending Apr. 18

OAKLAND, CA, April 22, 2015 (RISI) -North American forest products railroad freight was up 6.7% in the latest week ending Apr. 18, 2015, at 19,027 carloads, the Assn of American Railroads reported. Volume through 15 weeks of 2015 at 282,159 carloads was 4.3% higher.

In the week, US traffic was up 2.1%, Canada rose 13.7%, and Mexico dropped 24.1%.

Total North American rail carloads in the week decreased 3.3% and year-to-date was up 0.6%, AAR showed. Coal volume through 15 weeks was 4.3% lower from 2014.
