Canada forest products rail freight up 16% in latest week, US down 2.2%

OAKLAND, CA, March 19, 2015 (RISI) -North American forest products railroad volume was up 4.6% in the latest week ending March 14 to 18,740 carloads from a year ago, the Assn of American Railroads reported. Freight through 10 weeks of 2015 at 187,377 carloads was 4.4% higher.

US forest products traffic in the week was down 2.2%, Canada rose 16.2% and Mexico dropped 50%.

Total North American rail carloads in the week was off 0.9% and year-to-date was up 2.6%.
