SAO PAULO, March 13, 2018 (Press Release) -From March 13 to 15, Klabin takes part in the 24th Intermodal South America 2018 to be held in São Paulo Expo, inpartnership with the Port Administration of Paranaguá and Antonina (APPA). The company will reinforce its goal of promoting business deals and partnerships that favor the development of the logistics and foreign trade sectors, especially Brazil’s logistics infrastructure and investments in technology and planning.

The company is one of the event sponsors supporting APPA, an important partner in the operation of Klabin’s Puma Unit in Ortigueira, Paraná. It is Brazil’s only mill to simultaneously offer hardwood (eucalyptus), softwood (pine) and fluff pulp and, in order to ship the production, the company built the Pulp and Paper Logistics Unit in Paranaguá, also in Paraná, which has the capacity to ship annually 900 thousand tons of raw materials.

Inaugurated in 2016, the Unit is fully dedicated to shipping the production to export markets, which ensures speed and competitiveness for the business. With built-up area of 24,000 m², the Unit has a 23.5-km railway line built by the company, which connects the Unit to the Central do Paraná railroad station and operates seven locomotives and 306 freight cars.

Intermodal, considered one of the world’s main logistics, cargo transportation and foreign trade fairs, is expected to attract over 33,000 professionals, mainly representatives of shippers from diverse sectors of the economy, warehouses, logistics condominiums, operators, trading houses and companies in general. The previous edition gathered over 400 brands from 22 countries such as Argentina, Belgium, China, United States and the United Kingdom.
