BRUSSELS, Dec. 17, 2018 (RISI) -The province of Trento, Italy, has renewed an aid scheme aimed at promoting the integrated rail-road transport system until 2020. According to the province, the integrated transport system allows for the removal of 7,000 trucks from local roads and motorways, thus reducing CO2 emissions.

In particular, the scheme benefits pulp transports from ports in the south of Italy to Lecta’s Cartiere del Garda mill and Fedrigoni’s Riva del Garda mill.

The Euro 400,000/yr ($452,396/yr) aid scheme was launched in 2014 and was cleared by the European Commission in April 2016 for the period from July 1, 2016 to December 31, 2018.
