HELSINKI, Oct. 11, 2013 (Press Release) -World's largest furniture retailer Ikea awarded UPM Kaukas the Tulip Award on 8 September, 2013 in the category ‘Sustainability'. It was the first time the award was given in this category. The motivation for the award was: "Best performer in energy efficiency and use of renewable energy. Outstanding understanding of the sustainability challenges. Best in class for sustainability reporting."
UPM is one of the paper suppliers for the popular Ikea catalogue. Robert Jeanson, Local Segment Leader, Magazine Publishers, Cataloguers and Retailers, is happy about the award: "This is yet another proof that UPM is in the forefront, what comes to sustainability in paper making. This year Ikea gave the Tulip Award altogether in five categories. In addition to awarding UPM in ‘Sustainability', Ikea gave the Tulip Award in the categories ‘Best Print Quality, Body printer', ‘Best Print Quality, Cover printer', ‘Operations Excellence' and ‘Quality Achievement'.
