The 2012 Maine Manufacturer of the Year award is evaluated based on six key criteria, including, how the company is:
Developing and implementing innovative approaches to its business in effort to remain successful and differentiate itself from competition;
Adding value to its products and processes for customers;
Providing a clean and safe working environment for employees, including government regulations and training programs;
Contributing to environmental programs in the local community;
Creating an overall positive impression of the facility, the process and worker productivity;
Directing strategic growth initiatives for long-term success.

Sappi was awarded the Maine Manufacturer of the Year award at the MFPC's 52nd Annual Membership Meeting, which was held on Sunday, Sept. 16 through Monday, Sept. 17 in Rockport, Maine.
