THUNDER BAY, ON, Aug. 16, 2016 (Local News) -The Ministry of Environment is expected to appeal last month’s court decision that would saddle the province with the cost of future monitoring and maintenance at Dryden’s mercury-waste storage site.

Resolute Forest Products has been monitoring the site for the past five years, but the July 19 decision by Ontario’s Superior Court absolved it of that responsibility.

Despite winning in court, the company has assured the province it will continue to monitor the site until all the court proceedings, including a likely appeal by the ministry, have been concluded, a ministry spokesman said Friday.
