NEW GLASGOW, NS, May 28, 2015 (Local News) -The provincial government issued a ministerial order to Northern Pulp today (May 28) to ensure operations at the mill do not resume until installation of the precipitator is complete.

Northern Pulp said earlier this month that once they shut down on May 30, they would not restart operations until the new precipitator is fully functional.

The order, signed by acting Environment Minister Mark Furey, replaces the order issued last August, which required the company to have a precipitator constructed, installed, commissioned and operational by May 30. The new precipitator is expected to reduce emissions at the mill to within limits.
