ROME, WI, Jan. 29, 2013 (Wisconsin Rapids Tribune) -A citizens group working to improve the water quality of the Wisconsin River has challenged the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources' renewal of a wastewater permit for a local papermaker.

The Petenwell and Castle Rock Stewards filed a petition against the DNR, saying the agency must consider the impact of phosphorus discharges into the river as well as downstream lakes before renewing permits for Domtar Corp., which operates a paper mill in Nekoosa, according to a PACRS news release.
