ATHOLVILLE, NB, May 24, 2016 (Press Release) -Today AV Group NB Inc. is responding to the recent allegations on social media that it is releasing chemical discharge into the Restigouche River.

AV Group NB Inc. absolutely refutes the allegations of a chemical spill emanating from its Atholville Mill. Discharges from the Atholville Mill are approved by the Department of Environment and meet all environmental standards. The discharges are not toxic and are part of the normal operation of the effluent treatment system at this Mill.

“The comments recently posted to social media are false and misleading”, said Ashley Irvine, Chief Operating Officer of AV Group NB Inc.’s Atholville Mill.

AV Group NB Inc. is a member of the pulp and fibre business of the Aditya Birla Group and consists of two dissolving-pulp manufacturing mills located in New Brunswick, Canada: the Atholville Mill and the Nackawic Mill. The Atholville Mill, a Specialty Cellulose Pulp facility, is located in Atholville, New Brunswick and is situated on the banks of the Restigouche River near the City of Campbellton.
