SAO PAULO, Oct. 27, 2020 (Press Release) -In July, 2020, CMPC was included in VigeoEiris’ Best Emerging Market Performers Ranking among the 100 most advanced companies according to the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) assessment provider. The universe of companies evaluated contains 843 companies, from 32 sectors and 31 countries. CMPC is one of three companies from the Forest Products & Paper industry and one of nine Chilean companies across sectors to make it into the prestigious index.

The Best Emerging Market Performers index is comprised of the highest scoring companies across 330 key ESG indicators grouped into 38 criteria, such as efficient energy and resource use, human and labor rights, and waste management, to name a few. Companies can also be excluded from this index if they are subject to critical or recurrent controversies which they have failed to address.

This is another recognition for CMPC’s leading efforts in integrating sustainability at the core of its business strategy. The company has been included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes Chile and MILA since their inception in 2015 and 2017, respectively, as well as in the DJSI Emerging Markets since 2019. It is also listed in the FTSE4GOOD (since 2015) and MSCI Chile (since 2014) indexes. In 2019, the company was recognized among the top 72 best in class companies globally in water security and transparency by the prestigious organization CDP (formerly known as Carbon Disclosure Project), the so called Water A List.

VigeoEiris is one of the most widely recognized international providers of ESG research and services for investors, government entities and private corporations. Its methodology is designed to assess the level of integration of sustainability factors into the overall business strategy and day-to-day operations. Since 2019, Moody’s owns a majority stake in the company.
