SANTIAGO, Chile, Oct. 8, 2012 (Press Release) -As was announced on August 17 by Woodmark, an FSC accredited certification body, the infield audit began on October 2 as part of the FSC certification process. During this stage, which will continue through October 19, the auditing team will visit ARAUCO's operations to revise the different production processes and forest management practices implemented by the company, and determine if they comply with the applicable FSC standards. The auditing team will visit Valdivia, Bío Bío Sur, Bío Bío Norte and Santiago, conducting 150 days of work, of which 60% are in-field visits.

The FSC certification process has signified unprecedented change for ARAUCO, generating important moments for dialogue and learning. As a result of the work performed during the process, forty new forestry management practices have been developed, which imply improved labor conditions, greater environmental responsibility and further social involvement.

In this sense, Álvaro Saavedra, Senior Vice-President of the Forestry business, highlights: "We talk, listen, learn and act. Our teams are ever more involved with society each day, thanks to the strong commitment of our people, our contracting businesses and their workers and the motivation of many others, who, though not directly related to the company, have wanted to participate and contribute to the search for solutions that enable us to relate better".
