Russia's APPM plans to rebuild entire energy system

NOVODVINSK, Russia, May 13, 2020 (Press Release) -Alexander Tsybulsky, a temporarily appointed governor of the region, had a business meeting with Dmitriy Zyliov, CEO of Arkhangelsk PPM JSC. The parties had discussed the strategy of the implementation of mill gas supply project.

As Dmitry Zyliov told at the meeting, this project is included in the company's development strategy until 2025. According to preliminary estimates, its cost is 5 billion rubles.

Now the total rebuild of entire energy system is being carried out at APPM. It includes a fuel switching from fuel oil to gas on lime kilns of Board and Pulp Plants, a fuel switching to gas on four existing coal dust boilers and a construction of three new gas boilers at TPP-1, a replacement of two turbine units spent their fleet life (capacity of 60 MW and 30 MW).

Within the framework of this partial program, a handover of a new innovative energy boiler no. 9 is expected at the end of June of this year; its cost is 1.6 billion rubles.

The CEO of Arkhangelsk PPM also highlighted on the environmental part of the gas supply project: a fuel switching to natural gas will reduce the company's emissions and will affect the stabilization of greenhouse gas emissions.

According to APPM calculations, a fuel switching to gas will also help to stabilize the operation of equipment, minimize the downtime and significantly reduce the repair expenses by replacing worn-out equipment.

Dmitriy Zyliov also noted that it is planned to use own and borrowed funds for the implementation of this project at the Arkhangelsk PPM. In addition, other support arrangements are being considered.

Alexander Tsybulsky highly praised the gas supply project, noted the importance of the APPM investment project for the region.

At the end of the meeting, the parties discussed the upcoming visit of the temporarily appointed governor of the Arkhangelsk region to the mill.
