TOKYO, July 7, 2020 (Press Release) -Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd. (President: Toru Nozawa, hereinafter "the Company") has been selected for constituents of the representitive ESG(Environmental, Social, Governance)investment indices as follows, continuing from last year.

(1) All of the four indices*1 adopted by GPIF, the world's largest pension fund.

*1 "FTSE Blossom Japan Index"

  "MSCI Japan ESG Select Leaders Index"

  "MSCI Japan Empowering Women Select Index (WIN)"

  "S&P/JPX Carbon Efficient Index"

(2) The "FTSE4Good Index Series," the global ESG investment index.

(3) The "Euronext Vigeo index: World 120" sustainability indicator by Euronext, which operates stock exchanges and provides financial services in Europe, and Vigeo Eiris, which evaluates corporate social responsibilities.

In addition, from 2020, the Company has been selected as "Ethibel PIONEER", a top-ranked investment universe (a group of stocks that are candidates for inclusion) managed by Forum Ethibel, an organization that promotes socially responsible investment (SRI).

Under the corporate mission of "contribute to better living and cultural progress everywhere it does business." and under the slogan "shaping the future with tree," we are working to utilize wood biomass as a renewable resource and to apply recycling technologies.

We will continue to enhance our ESG initiatives and disclose information in an appropriate manner, referring to the evaluations and comments of our internal and external stakeholders.
