TOKYO, July 26, 2021 (Press Release) -Nippon Paper Industries (President: Toru Nozawa, hereinafter "the Company") has been awarded a high rating of "Gold medal" in a sustainability assessment conducted by EcoVadis (headquartered in France).
EcoVadis is an organization that provides buyers with sustainability assessments of suppliers through an information-sharing platform registered with buyers and suppliers from about 160 countries and 200 industries. EcoVadis assesses the sustainability of companies in four areas: environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable sourcing. The Company has been rated in the top 5% of all companies assessed by EcoVadis.
Based on the "2030 Vision" announced in May 2021, and to realize the Group Mission, the Company, as a "comprehensive biomass company shaping the future with trees", aims to become carbon neutral in 2050, and promotes sustainability management that pursues both social and environmental sustainability together with corporate growth.
Evaluation criteria: Platinum (within the top 1%), Gold (within the top 5%), Silver (within the top 25%), Bronze (within the top 50%).
