NEW GLASGOW, NS, April 8, 2014 (Local News) -In what they are calling a milestone in their precipitator project, Northern Pulp Nova Scotia Corporation has moved one step further toward the installation of a new recovery boiler precipitator.
The recovery boiler works to recover chemicals used in the pulping process to use again while using the waste to generate heat and power. The precipitator works to trap particular matter exiting the mill, preventing it going into the air.Read more
Paul Hawkes, executive account manager for Heritage Gas Ltd., met with the Pictou County Chamber of Commerce on Thursday to drum up a few more customers.
"Right now we don't have a solid commitment from the (Aberdeen) Hospital or Michelin," said Hawkes. "We're in talks with them, but gas won't be coming to New Glasgow until we have a commitment."Read more
NEW GLASGOW, NS, Sept. 23, 2013 (Local News) - Driving up to the Boat Harbour Treatment Facility, Northern Pulp environmental manager Dave Davis talks with some regret about the land the provincial government expropriated from families in the 1960s to build the waste treatment facility and even the location of it - decisions neither he nor anyone else now at his company had anything to do with.

"We're definitely looking at it, but nothing has been approved," said general manager Don Breen. "We have talked to Heritage Gas. We definitely would like to get it here at the mill."
Before that happens though they will need to get approval from head office and sign an agreement with Heritage Gas, the company with the distribution franchise rights for natural gas in Nova Scotia.Read more
