MELBOURNE, Australia, Feb. 12, 2019 (Press Release) -Biotechnology company Circa Group has announced that its FC5 commercial demonstration plant is now online, paving the way to a regular supply of Circa’s bio-based solvent Cyrene.
A joint venture between Circa and Norwegian pulp and paper company Norske Skog, the FC5 plant is located in Tasmania, Australia. Now successfully commissioned and operated end-to-end, FC5 is starting to produce a steady stream of 99% pure Cyrene, a non-toxic solvent made from certified and renewable cellulose waste.

Read moreOSLO, Norway, Dec. 6, 2018 (Press Release) -Statkraft and Norske Skog Skogn AS and Norske Skog Saugbrugs AS have entered into new long-term industrial power supply agreements for the period from 1 December 2018 to 31 December 2026. The total delivery will be about 14 TWh, with annual deliveries of approximately 900 GWh to each mill.
The contracts will contribute to the supply of power to Norske Skog's paper mills in Skogn and Halden, and will replace previous contracts between Statkraft and Norske Skog.

Allan Holden, energy manager at Norske Skog Tasman, says Transpower needed to be more flexible with maintenance work on its HVDC link, a six-day undertaking that will likely result in higher prices in the North Island.
"They [Transpower] have not been flexible enough to say 'is this the right time to be doing it?'" Holden said.
