STOCKHOLM, May 27, 2019 (Press Release) -Metsä Fibre, part of Metsä Group, has awarded ÅF Pöyry with the pre-engineering assignment for new bioproduct mill, Kemi. The target for the ongoing pre-engineering project is to create conditions for building a bioproduct mill with an annual production capacity of approximately 1.5 million tonnes of softwood and hardwood pulp to Metsä Group’s current mill site in Kemi. In addition to pulp, the mill would produce various other bioproducts. This mill would be the biggest wood processing unit in the Northern hemisphere.Read more
ESPOO, Finland, May 27, 2019 (Press Release) -Metsä Fibre, part of Metsä Group, has signed an agreement with ÅF Pöyry on the pre-engineerings of Kemi bioproduct mill and Rauma sawmill. The contract was signed on 27.5.2019. ÅF Pöyry will provide Metsä Fibre consulting services for pre-engineering projects. Pre-engineering projects include, among other things, Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and environmental permit processes, main equipment contracts and investment proposals.Read more

ESPOO, Finland, Dec. 10, 2018 (Press Release) -Metsä Fibre, part of Metsä Group, and EcoEnergy SF have signed an agreement concerning the ownership of the biogas plant located in Metsä Group’s mill area in Äänekoski. The biogas plant will be transferred to Metsä Fibre’s ownership on 10 December 2018. Built by EcoEnergy SF, the biogas plant was started up in 2017 It produces biogas and biopellets from wood-based sludge generated by Metsä Fibre´s bioproduct mill in Äänekoski.Read more
ESPOO, Finland, Oct. 1, 2018 (Press Release) -Metsä Group’s innovation company Metsä Spring Ltd. and Japanese Itochu Corporation establish a joint venture, which invests approximately EUR 40 million in building and operating a test plant, with the aim to demonstrate a new technology for converting paper-grade pulp into textile fibres.
