Besides, the Mimizan pulp and paper mill has resumed production after an important maintenance break. During that time, the company has proceeded to a major upgrade on the 4 paper machines dedicated to unbleached Machine-Glazed and Sack Kraft papers (150,000 tonnes / year capacity).
A significant investment was especially made on PM4 and PM5 to renew the equipments, and therefore enhance paper specifications and profile, particularly the lightweight MG Kraft grades' technical characteristics. PM5 has a 30,000 tons annual capacity and produces high quality unbleached MG grades, mostly from 36 to 70 gsm. These virgin fibres papers are mainly dedicated to food packaging. Their machinability and printability have been notably improved, in order to respond to customer's higher quality requirements, and to anticipate even more demanding applications in the future.
This several-million-Euro renovation is meant to offer customers worldwide further improved quality, and thus ensure Gascogne Paper's key position in the natural MG Kraft market.
