BASF today announced plans to exit the dimer and polyamide resin business due to the North American market decline over the past 15 years driven by excess market capacity and a decline in key markets including printing. Effective immediately, or as contracts allow, BASF will increase kaolin prices globally for paper applications. Prices will increase by up to 7 percent, with the amount of the increase dependent on the product. BASF's energy surcharge policy remains unchanged with the threshold at $5/mmbtu.
