VEENDAM, The Netherlands, June 30, 2015 (Press Release) -Nedmag Industries in Veendam, The Netherlands, will be expanding its magnesium hydroxide storage capacity. Four new storage tanks have been shipped from Sweden to the production site in Veendam, at the beginning of the month.

With the expansion of the magnesium hydroxide storage capacity, Nedmag expects to meet the fast increasing demand for its magnesium hydroxide, especially in the pulp and paper industry.

Nedmag's decision to further differentiate its products was agreed a year ago. Its new product, stable magnesium hydroxide, was introduced in 2014.Nedmag has invested in a new production line, equipment and expertise while working closely with partners and universities.

Nedmag's new stable magnesium hydroxide is utilized, among others, as an environmentally friendly solution for chemicals currently used in the pulp and paper industry and waste water treatment - for neutralisation of acid and pH control, metal removal, removal and recovery of phosphorus.

Since 2014, Nedmag has entered in a strategic alliance with Imerys and partnered up with Banmark to offer the European pulp and paper industry a novel and sustainable pulp bleaching technology. Supported by their advanced laboratories, Nedmag's delivers environmental benefits and via recipe optimization a cost saving solution with multiple performance benefits to the pulp industry.

The strong increase in demand for Nedmag's new magnesium hydroxide necessitates the investment in additional storage capacity. The storage tanks were shipped from Sweden, to Delfzijl, the Netherlands, by sea (a 40 hour journey). From there it was transported to Nedmag by barge. The magnesium hydroxide storage tanks have a capacity of 350 cubic meters each.
