India's TNPL wins PPI awards under green energy and biofuels category at Brussels event

CHENNAI, India, Dec. 21, 2012 (Press Release) -Pulp and Paper International Awards (PPI), honors leadership, vision, innovation and strategic accomplishments within the pulp and paper industry which is organized by RISI, the leading information provider to the global forest products industry, The PPI Awards provide an opportunity for pulp and papermakers worldwide to showcase their achievements on a global platform. Companies who choose to enter the PPI Awards submit their entries online for one or more categories. These entries are then judged by an international panel of independent judges. The finalists are chosen and invited to attend award function where the winners are revealed and presented with their trophies by the sponsor of each category.

TNPL was short listed as finalist for PPI Awards 2012 - The Green Energy and Biofuels category, (Sponsored by M/s Andritz) along with, M/s Metsa Fibre Oy, Finland, M/s Mondi Syktyvkar, Russia, and M/s UPM, UK.

TNPL is also short listed as finalist for PPI Awards 2012 -Water Efficiency category (Sponsored by M/s Kemira) along with M/s Bignardi, Brazil, M/s BILT Graphic Paper Products, Bhigwan Unit, India, M/s Cascades Candiac Mill, Canada, M/s Klabin Monte Alegre, Brazil and M/s Shandong Sun Paper Industry Joint Stock, Ltd, China.

TNPL was selected as WINNER under The Green Energy and Biofuels category and it was announced at PPI Awards ceremony at Brussels, Belgium on November 12, 2012. The award was presented to TNPL to recognize its efforts for effective utilization and generation of bio-fuel from the waste and wastewater to reduce its dependence on fossil fuel and CO2 emission reduction. On behalf of TNPL, Dr. S. V. Subrahmanyam, General Manager (R & D and QC) received the award.
