The funding will allow the company to purchase more energy-efficient equipment for the facility, which is shown with capacity of 32,000 tons/yr of recycled uncoated freesheet and 18,000 tons/yr of machine-glazed packaging grades.
The $490,000 project will be eligible for a Wisconsin Focus on Energy award. The mill employs 110.
The funding comes from Wisconsin's State Energy Program (SEP), which is funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The funding was announced Oct. 29 by Governor Jim Doyle.
The former Badger Paper mill dates to 1929. BPM was formed in 2005.
