NEENAH, WI, June 27, 2013 (Appleton Post-Crescent ) -Fox Valley Energy Center closed June 15 after it was unable to renew its contract with SCA Tissue, which supplied about 80 percent of the plant's revenue.

The closure resulted in the layoff of 23 of the plant's 24 employees and the loss of one of Neenah's largest water customers.

Fox Valley Energy Center, 231 Millview Drive, took pulp and paper sludge (wastewater solids) that otherwise would be landfilled and burned it with paper pellets to produce steam and fly ash. The plant is owned by Thermagen Power Group of Chicago and was formerly owned by Minergy Corp.
