PhilCorr expects 13% drop in electricity usage with WPS solar power system

MILWAUKEE, June 4, 2015 (Press Release) -WPS Global Inc. recently signed-on its first solar-powered customer, PhilCorr, a corrugated sheet manufacturer located in Vineland, New Jersey. The 120,000 square-foot sheet-feeder generates nearly half of its total power via a 1.2-megawatt rooftop solar system (3,584 fixed panels covering roughly 77,000 square feet).

The WPS Global system is designed to benefit high consumers of energy (facilities operating large equipment such as corrugators) with greater savings by reducing kilowatt consumption. The custom-designed plan WPS Global prepares for each facility requires no equipment or process changes and no investment in resources.

The main goals for the PhilCorr installation were to reduce kilowatt usage, make their solar generated power go further and to protect its equipment from electrical spikes and surges.

Daniel Santhouse, operations manager, PhilCorr, said "I've read a couple articles. Then visited Niagara Sheets in Buffalo, NY and they explained some details which sounded attractive."

PhilCorr expects to earn a 13 percent reduction in total electricity usage. This would increase its solar-generated portion of electricity by 7 percent, from 45 percent to 52 percent.

"I'm looking forward to crunching the numbers and confirming what many believe to be optimistic proposed results," adds Santhouse.

According to Santhouse, the savings guarantee from WPS Global sealed the deal. "Their guarantees with other companies are usually surpassed. That's what we're counting on - a return on our investment," he said.

Prior to the WPS Global installation, PhilCorr's solar equipment produced around 45 percent of its total electrical usage annually. With WPS Global's energy management equipment in place, PhilCorr's same solar equipment should produce about 55 percent of its total annual electrical usage. PhilCorr's philosophy is based on the premise that solar power equals sustainability. The more solar power, the more sustainability can be achieved.

The company strives to significantly reduce its reliance on power from the Vineland Electric grid. Achieving this means PhilCorr will contribute to the consumption of fewer fossil fuels and reduced emissions, which can't be avoided when pulling power in from the grid.
