CASTLEGAR, BC, Nov. 16, 2010 (Local News) -Excess steam produced at the Zellstoff Celgar mill in Castlegar is now being used to generate large amounts of electricity for BC Hydro.
The Crown corporation has signed a 10-year agreement to purchase power from the mill's cogeneration facility, which is capable of producing 238 gigawatt-hours of electricity each year.
That's enough to power roughly 20,000 homes.
