LONGVIEW, WA, May 27, 2011 (Local News) -An electrical failure forced the temporary shutdown of Longview Fibre Paper and Packaging Thursday morning, company officials said.

A component in the mill's main electrical system failed at 11:46 a.m., cutting power and mill's main water supply pumps, Longview Fibre spokeswoman Sarah Taydas said. The power was restored an hour later, and the company was working to restart the mill Thursday afternoon, she said.

Two Longview fire engines were called as backup, said Brian Smith, battalion chief. A boiler fire briefly ignited but was quickly doused by the Longview Fibre crew, Smith said.
