IP to take month-long shut at Ticonderoga, NY, mill to prepare for switch to trucked natural gas
International Paper, located in the Washington County town of Ticonderoga, has a contract with NG Advantage LLC, based in Colchester, Vt., to supply natural gas via truck for up to a year, said IP spokeswoman Donna Wadsworth.
Gas will replace about 60 percent of the fuel oil - or about 32,000 gallons of oil daily - that currently fires the mill, she said Wednesday.
Deliveries are expected to begin in late May, once the mill resumes operations after a planned monthlong shutdown to install new equipment needed for the fuel switch.
