NewPage expects approval of biomass project in Nova Scotia

HALIFAX, NS, Sept. 17, 2010 (Chronicleherald.ca) -NewPage Corp., the Ohio company that owns the NewPage Port Hawkesbury pulp mill, is confident Nova Scotia regulators will give a speedy approval to their controversial project to burn wood waste for electricity.

The company assured U.S. industry analysts this week that it expects the project to get the green light and the $80 million from the sale of an existing boiler at Port Hawkesbury by the end of the year.

"Presenting Port Hawkesbury boiler project during the month of September. Anticipate the review process being completed in October and the sale closed shortly thereafter," the company said in a presentation to the Credit Suisse Paper Forest Products conference on Thursday.
