HALIFAX, NS, July 27, 2010 (New Brunswick Business Journal) -A $200-million energy generation project that could create 150 new forestry jobs is being considered in Nova Scotia.

The province's Utility and Review Board opened hearings Monday on whether to approve a plan to burn 650,000 metric tonnes of biomass per year to fire a steam generator at a Cape Breton mill.

Newpage Port Hawkesburty Corp. and Nova Scotia Power Inc. are asking the board to approve the plan to develop a co-generation facility at Newpage's paper mill in Point Tupper. Newpage would be responsible for the construction and operation of the facility as well as fuel supply.
