ST. JOHN, NB, June 8, 2010 (New Brunswick Business Journal) -The New Brunswick government is committing more than 1.2 million cubic metres of the province's branches, tree tops and foliage to forest products companies generating energy and value-added products.

The Department of Natural Resources will announce Wednesday that eight proposals out of 16 submitted by industry firms have been awarded Crown biomass allocations that will bring in about $975,000 in revenue for the government this year.

A copy of the release, obtained by the Telegraph-Journal, says the biomass allocated this year is enough to replace about 200 million litres of oil.
