WASHINGTON, DC, March 6, 2012 (Press Release) -American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) President and CEO Donna Harman today released the following statement expressing continued support for Sen. Collins' amendment to the transportation bill currently being debated in the Senate.

"We appreciate the steadfast leadership of Sen. Collins, as well as that of the amendment co-sponsors Sens. Alexander, Toomey, Pryor, Landrieu, and McCaskill. The hard-working men and women in the forest products industry - nearly 900,000 strong - are counting on the continued support of their elected representatives to ensure regulatory policies, such as Boiler MACT, are written in a way that protects their jobs, their livelihoods, and their health.

"The court has been dictating what EPA can and cannot do on this issue for the past four years. It is time for Congress to step in and ensure that the rules are achievable, affordable, and can withstand court challenge. The Collins amendment provides the direction and certainty everyone needs, and thus we strongly urge its adoption."
