SAN FRANCISCO, April 15, 2013 (RISI) -Atlantic Packaging Products hopes to complete the conversion of the idle newsprint PM at its Whitby, ON, mill to containerboard by the end of April, according to contacts.
The machine would have capacity to produce 300,000 tons/yr of recycled lightweight containerboard but the net capacity addition reportedly would be more like 100,000 ton/yr because the company may indefinitely idle an older existing machine depending on market conditions.Read more
SAN FRANCISCO, March 15, 2013 (PPI Pulp & Paper Week) -Sacramento Container is opening a sheet plant in Kingsburg, CA, next month in a building formerly owned by Del Monte as a peach cannery.
The new 265,000 sq ft operation will make boxes with about 25 workers but long-term plans include adding a corrugator and increasing the number of employees to 200 workers. Initial equipment will include a 50-in. Ward flexo folder-gluer and 37-in. Martin flexo folder-gluer.Read more
The new boiler would reduce emissions of sulfur dioxide and enable the mill to meet impending new air quality regulations. The project is scheduled for completion at the end of October.
