OAKLAND, CA, Jan. 15, 2015 (RISI) -North American forest products rail freight rose 3.5% in the first full week of 2015 from a year ago to 17,932 carloads, the Assn of American Railroads reported. US traffic was up 2.9%, Canada rose 4% and Mexico's low volume was up 45.1%.
AAR showed total North American carloads in the week ending Jan. 10 were up 8.1%.
Genesee & Wyoming reported its pulp and paper rail freight in the fourth quarter was up 3.5% from a year ago to 44,447 carloads. December volume was up 2.8%.Read more
US forest products traffic in the week was up 2.5% and year-to-date was 2.7% higher. Canadian traffic rose 5.2% and was 4.4% lower respectively. Mexico's small volume rose by half in the week and was 7.2% lower year-to-date.Read more
OAKLAND, CA, Dec. 11, 2014 (RISI) -North American forest products rail freight was 4.7% higher in the week ending Dec. 6 at 18,530 carloads, the Assn of American Railroads reported. Volume through 49 weeks of 2014 was 0.4% below a year ago at 913,750 carloads.
US forest products volume in the week rose 12% from a year ago, Canada was 4.7% lower and Mexico was up 4.7%.
Total North American rail carloads in the week were up 10.8% and year-to-date was up 3.2%.Read more
OAKLAND, CA, Dec. 5, 2014 (RISI) -North American forest products rail volume in the week ending Nov. 29 was up 1.9% from a year ago to 17,546 carloads, the Assn of American Railroads reported.
Forest products freight through 48 weeks of 2014 at 895,220 carloads was 0.5% below the same period of 2013.
US forest products freight in the week was up 8%, Canada was down 5.5% and Mexico fell 58.5%, AAR showed.
Total North American carloads in the week were up 4.3% and 3.1% higher year-to-date.
OAKLAND, CA, Dec. 8, 2014 (RISI) -Verso Paper LLC and Verso Maine Power Holdings, each an indirect, wholly owned subsidiary of Verso Paper Corp., on Dec. 5 entered into an agreement to sell Verso Bucksport Power LLC to AIM Development for approximately $60 million in cash.
In an SEC filing on Dec. 8, Verso said it anticipates that the transaction will be completed in January 2015.Read more
