Port Panama City, FL, sees big gains in forest products with new $60M terminal next to WestRock mill

PANAMA CITY, FL, May 14, 2021 (Panama City News Herald) -Since Port Panama City's east terminal opened a year ago, almost 200,000 tons of cargo has passed through the facility. 

About 100 people gathered at a dedication ceremony Wednesday for the east terminal and east channel, which is located next to the WestRock Paper Mill in Millville and cost about $60 million to develop, said Wayne Stubbs, the port's executive director.

ATLANTA, May 13, 2021 (Press Release) -Today, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 4 issued an emergency order under Section 303 of the Clean Air Act (CAA) to New Indy Containerboard to reduce emissions of hydrogen sulfide from their pulp and paper mill in Catawba, S.C., to meet specific limits as monitored at the fence line. Simultaneously, EPA sent the company a formal request for information under CAA Section 114 requiring the company to perform air monitoring in the communities surrounding the facility.
