Greif sets new goal to reduce its absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions 28% by 2030

DELAWARE, OH, April 22, 2021 (PRNewswire) -Greif, Inc., a global leader in industrial packaging products and services, today announced it has set a new goal to reduce its absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions 28% by 2030. This target aligns to the prevailing climate science limit of keeping global warming to well below 2 degrees Celsius. The Company will also further investigate its Scope 3 GHG emissions and make a determination about pursuing a net-zero carbon aspiration by the end of 2023.

FFI folding cartonboard database activated for data entry by cartonboard manufacturers

FRANKFURT, Germany, April 22, 2021 (Press Release) -As of now, the international folding carton database of the FFI e.V. (FFI) has been activated for data entry by cartonboard manufacturers. Cartonboard manufacturers are invited to enter the data on their products into the database. The database will be activated for users after a data entry phase of around five weeks.

European Commission fines three EU railway companies Euro 48 million for customer allocation cartel

BRUSSELS, April 20, 2021 (Press Release) -The European Commission has fined railway companies Österreichische Bundesbahnen (ÖBB), Deutsche Bahn (DB) and Société Nationale des Chemins de fer belges / Nationale Maatschappij der Belgische Spoorwegen (SNCB) a total of €48 million for breaching EU antitrust rules.

The companies participated in a customer allocation cartel, which concerned cross-border rail cargo transport services on blocktrains on key rail corridors in the EU. The three companies admitted their involvement in the cartel and agreed to settle the case.

Valmet to supply automation system to Tampereen Sähkölaitos' new Naistenlahti 3 boiler plant in Tampere, Finland

ESPOO, Finland, April 20, 2021 (Press Release) -Valmet has received an order from Tampereen Sähkölaitos Oy for an automation system to the Naistenlahti 3 boiler plant, which is currently under construction in Tampere, Finland. In April 2020, Valmet announced the order of this biomass-fired boiler plant.

The automation order is included in Valmet’s orders received of the first quarter 2021. The value of the order will not be disclosed. The boiler plant with its automation solutions will be taken over by the customer in December 2022.
