LAUSANNE, Switzerland , Dec. 10, 2020 (Press Release) -Tetra Pak has been recognised for leadership in corporate sustainability by global environmental non-profit CDP, securing a place on its prestigious A List for tackling climate change, as well as acting to protect forests – two of the three environmental themes covered by CDP. UK retailer Tesco cuts 20 million pieces of plastic from its Christmas range

WELWYN GARDEN CITY, UK, Dec. 9, 2020 (Press Release) -Tesco has removed over 20 million pieces of plastic from this year’s Christmas range. Crackers, lights, cards and puddings have all been produced using less single use plastic:

    Tesco’s own label crackers are plastic free for the first time – they will include non-plastic presents and are now sold without plastic in cardboard packaging. This cuts over 14 million pieces of plastic from the seasonal range.

    312,000 Christmas lights will instead be sold in recyclable cardboard packaging.

HALIFAX, NS, Dec. 9, 2020 (Chronicleherald.ca) -The Pictou County kraft pulp mill idled in January in order to comply with the Boat Harbour Act, which mandated the closure of its effluent treatment plant.

Premier Stephen McNeil refused to extend the Boat Harbour Act to allow the mill to continue operating as it sought environmental approval for its controversial proposed replacement effluent treatment plant.
