SWINDON, UK, Feb. 23, 2020 (Press Release) -The National Trust has become the UK’s largest membership organisation to ditch plastic from millions of its iconic members’ cards, as the charity marks its 125th anniversary.

From next week, the charity will begin to remove 12.5 tonnes of plastic, equivalent to two African elephants, from its 5m annually issued membership cards, which will now be made from a super-strength paper.

Kiruna Wagon assigned to increase Södra Skogsägarna's pulp transports capability

The order comprises twenty-two wagons for Södra's pulp transports from the mill in Värö to the port in Varberg. Measuring twenty metres, the new wagon is almost twice as long as its predecessor and constitutes a productive solution, where the entire long side can be opened for maximum accessibility and safe loading and unloading with a clamp forklift. “With the new rail wagons, we take another step towards Södra's goal of fossil-free transport by 2030“, said Christer Larsson, logistics manager at Södra Cell Värö.

Saica collaborates in pilot project to use LNG as fuel for mid- and long-distance freight transportation

Saica, Carreras and Iveco are collaborating in a pilot project to use Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) as fuel for mid and long distance freight transportation. LNG is the most ecological fuel for internal-combustion engines that currently exists.

The project, which first test took place at the end of summer, is part of the Lean & Green initiative. Its objective is to decrease in 20% the CO2 emissions of the Supply Chain in a period of five years.

While discussions with interested parties are still ongoing, UPM has not received binding offers by potential buyers of the mill to date.
