ST. PETERSBURG, Russia, Feb. 27, 2020 (Press Release) -In his Address to the Federal Assembly, President Vladimir Putin paid special attention to environmental issues and urged businesses to switch to the best available technologies and receive integrated environmental permits (IEP).

Kondopoga Pulp and Paper Mill entered the pilot group of 16 Russian companies doing so, and is now the first of the country's pulp and paper industry enterprises to receive an IEP.

SARPSBORG, Norway, Feb. 26, 2020 (Globe Newswire) -Reference is made to the stock exchange notice on 14 February 2020 where it was informed that the board of Sniace, Borregaard’s partner in Spain, intended to apply for liquidation of the company. Manufacturing activities at the Sniace dissolving pulp and viscose fiber mill in Torrelavega have now been stopped. As a consequence, the supply of lignin raw material from Sniace to the jointly owned company LignoTech Ibérica was discontinued on 25 February. Production of lignin has therefore stopped.

Hamburger Containerboard postpones start-up of new PM at Spremberg mill, Germany, by four weeks

PITTEN, Austria , Feb. 27, 2020 (Press Release) -Hamburger Containerboard has given notice of a four-week postponement in the start-up of the new paper machine at the Spremberg location. The first paper will become available in midAugust. The postponement is due to delays in the construction work.

 Paper deliveries already agreed with customers will not be affected by the shift in time.

Professor Jarkko Hantula says the risk of forest damage is increased by the proliferation of spruce and the eventual growing popularity of continuous-cover silviculture.

Hantula considers that the issue of forest damage has only merited some headlines in the climate debate.
