Tesco removes 67 million pieces of plastic as it scraps tinned multipacks from all UK stores

WELWYN GARDEN CITY, UK, Jan. 24, 2020 (Press Release) -Tesco will replace plastic-wrapped multipacks with plastic-free multibuys on tinned food eliminating 350 tonnes of plastic from the environment.

Customers still get the same ‘multipack’ value, just without plastic.

183,000 tinned multipacks are bought every day at Tesco.

Today it has announced it will become the first UK retailer to remove them from all Tesco stores and replace them with plastic-free multibuys. This will see 67 million pieces of plastic eliminated.

In the context of the proceedings related to the notice of intention to make a proposal pursuant to the provisions of Part III of the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act (Canada) filed in late 2019 by the Corporation, these transactions were approved by the Superior Court of Quebec respectively on December 19, 2019 and January 17, 2020.

SEAM was launched on January 21, 2020 by the Federation of European Producers of Abrasives (FEPA), which represents over 80% of the abrasive product producers in Europe.

ANDRITZ signs preliminary agreement with UPM to supply pulp production technologies and key process equipment

GRAZ, Austria, Jan. 23, 2020 (Press Release) -International technology Group ANDRITZ and UPM have signed a preliminary agreement under which ANDRITZ is to supply energy-efficient and environmentally friendly pulp production technologies as well as key process equipment. The final contract will have a mid- triple-digit million euro order value for ANDRITZ and is expected to be booked in Q1 2020. Further details of the agreement will be disclosed after the final contract has been signed, which is expected to happen in the coming weeks.
