BillerudKorsnäs taps Swedish bearing and seal manufacturer SKF to boost efficiency at its Karlsborg mill in Kalix, Sweden

SOLNA, Sweden, Nov. 4, 2019 (Press Release) -BillerudKorsnäs and SKF are partnering to reduce maintenance costs and improve production output and sustainability performance at Karlsborg Mill in Kalix, Sweden.

Real time data from a new system with 480 connected condition monitoring points at Karlsborg willl be analyzed at SKF’s Rotating Equipment Performance Center in Gothenburg. Combined with a new, performance-based business model, smarter and faster decisions can be made by the mill’s operators and SKF’s engineers, in order to improve Karlsborg mill’s performance.

Duluth, MN, city council excludes paper from proposed bag-fee ordinance

DULUTH, MN, Nov. 3, 2019 (Duluth News Tribune) -A proposed ordinance that would require retailers in Duluth to charge customers a nickel for every single-use bag they dispense will now apply only to plastic bags.

The Duluth City Council voted 7-1 Monday night, with 5th District Councilor Jay Fosle absent, to amend the ordinance originally proposed by 3rd District Councilor Em Westerlund.

They have combed through ripped sleeves of Oreos, empty packages of Trader Joe’s meatballs, discarded “Lord of the Rings” DVDs and dented plastic shampoo bottles. They have even discovered the occasional $20 bill.
